Antiseptics

(TU U 24.4-13395997-0.21:2008; TU U 24.3-13395997-009:2005)

Water-borne paintwork materials when in storage and these materials based coatings when in service are subject to destruction under impact of mold fungi and bacteria. Contamination with microorganisms takes place at paint production stage through contaminated raw materials. Contamination sources can also be storage and raw material supply systems (pipelines, tanks).

As a result of microorganism contamination rheological properties of paintwork materials significantly deteriorate: viscosity is reduced (which is often accompanied by emission of gaseous nitrogen, ammonia, hydrogen sulfide and by formation of hard settlements), gloss is deteriorated, and coating porosity is increased. Strict requirements which are nowadays specified to quality and reliability of paintwork materials and coatings based on them generate a need for inclusion of biocides (antiseptics) into these materials.

Products offered by “Khimpostavschik”: ANTSP-3.0 (grades A and B) and ANTSP-8.0 (grades A and B) produce fungicidal action against all fungi included in GOST 9.050-75 (Penicilium ochro-chloron, P. funiculosum, P. chresogenum, P. brevicompetum, P. Aurantiogriseum, Fusarium moniliforme, Alternaria alternate, Aspergilus terreus, Aspergilus niger, Trichoderma viride). Accredited laboratory report (No. UA 6.001.T.433),  D.K. Zabolotny Institute for Microbiology and Virology.

Water dispersion paints grades VD-AK-112 and VD-AK-224, containing 0,3-0,5% of the product: ANTSP-3.0 (grade A) or ANTSP-8.0 (grade A) or 0,1%-0,3% of grade B of the above products, are resistant to fungi in accordance with GOST 9.048-89, GOST 9.050-75, method A.

These formulations can be used in alkyd-, nitrocellulose-, acrylic resin-based paintwork materials as an additive (up to 1%) which increases resistance to fungi and microorganisms.

Coating containing ANTSP-8.0 (1,3%) or ANTSP-3.0 (2,4% on an active substance basis) have good protective properties against fungi. These antiseptics can be used in oil-based/ alkyd-, nitrocellulose-, acrylic resin-based  impregnating paintwork materials as an additive (in quantity of 1-2%) which improves substrate resistance to fungi.

Approximate formulation of the impregnating composition possessing antiseptic properties:

   Oxidized oil, viscosity 8-14 min., VZ-4 viscosimeter – 35%

   “ANTSP-3.0”, grade B, antiseptic                            - 2%

   “OñtaÑhim-1.2”  drier                                              - 1%

   White spirit solvent – 62%
